Terrific Tuesday: “Bee” Part of the Excitement!

Today’s young people have the benefit of spell check when typing reports for school.

But the students who are contestants in the 2013 National Spelling Bee won’t have the benefit of computer responses when asked to spell words in the competition.

Months, perhaps even years, of study have gone into preparation for the contest by  these 281 young people, age 8 to 14, who now are on the national stage. This year’s competition also requires that students take a computer test on the meaning of vocabulary words.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee will be in full swing on Wednesday, May 29, with the semi-finals and finals taking place on Thursday, May 30.
